Course Information: English Composition II  (50024)

A course designed to further develop college-level reading and writing skills. Includes analysis of literary texts and specialized application of the research and writing skills learned in ENGL 1101. Minimum passing grade is "C."

Required Materials:   The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot (ISBN: 978-1-4000-5218-9) and Writing Arguments, by John D. Ramage, et al. (ISBN: 978-0-205-17163-7)
Technical Requirements:   Internet access; SSU e-mail address (checked regularly); access to eLearning. In addition to the assigned textbooks listed above, you will need quite a bit of lined paper. I recommend you use loose-leaf, three-hole-punched paper, rather than spiral bound or legal pad paper, but these details are up to you. Workshop and final drafts of your papers will need to be submitted in hard copy, stapled. You will thus need reliable access to a computer, printer, and stapler (this may mean being sure to print your work the night before, to ensure having it ready for class). You will also need a paper folder with horizontal pockets for handing in your work. (Please do not use plastic folders or the folders that serve as binding. I need to be easily able to remove items from your folder.) Unless otherwise specified, you will need to bring the following to class each day: both textbooks, any homework due, lined paper, and a dark writing utensil (a black or dark blue ballpoint or rollerball pen or a standard pencil).
