The principles of genetic analysis and the nature of genes. Discussion of the chromosomal and molecular basis of transmission, replication, mutation, and expression of heritable characteristics. Includes modern developments in genetics, such as the physical nature and fine structure of the gene, its relationship to proteins, protein synthesis, growth, and differentiation and regulation of gene function.
