Course Information: Creative Writing: Intro to Fic  (23254)

This course is designed to give students an introductory look into the craft and creation of fiction writing. Students will consistently examine a variety of fiction texts in order to gain a theoretical understanding of the writing and reading of fiction which will allow students to both analyze and critique fiction works. Reading of texts will form the frame work for the workshop format in which students will practice the art of constructive criticism and critique of their peers' completed work. To produce these stories for workshops, students will write intensely throughout the course and be provided with basic instruction of fiction techniques and literary elements including: plot; theme; tone; setting; imagery; and description.
