Course Information: Intro/Transportation Planning  (80761)

This is a required course for all the students at the first year of interdisciplinary transportation certificate. The subject could be of interest to individuals from a wide background, including civil engineering technology, urban planning and supply chain management, interested in becoming a transportation professional. The course materials focus on the introduction to the fundamentals of transportation systems and planning as well as the components of transportation networks and their characteristics. Furthermore, the socio-economic aspects of transportation logistics from different aspects will be discussed. The elements of transportation systems with regard to the customers and level of service will be investigated. People and freight transportation systems and components are among other concentration areas of this course. An introduction to fundamentals of modelling and simulation concepts will be followed by introducing a powerful tool to model transportation networks.
