Course Information: African Literature  (80781)

This course is a selective survey of the literature of continental Africa, from ancient oral epics, tales, and poems to the postcolonial prose fiction, drama, and poetry of the postcolonial decades. Readings will include works by authors such as Leopold Senghor, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Ayi Kwei Armah, Mariama Ba, Buchi Emecheta and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
