This is an introductory course in poetry writing with an emphasis on the craft of poetry writing. As the course progresses, students will explore and deconstruct a variety of poetic forms and conventions and engage in writing exercises that will help create their own poetry manuscript while building their skills as writers. As students develop their own manuscripts, they will acquire detailed instructions on poetic forms, poetic movements, poetic voice, and poetic traditions. By the end of the semester each student will have produced a complete, polished 16-20 page original poetry manuscript.
