Course Information: Applied Planning Practices  (20877)

This course will examine the history, theory, and methods of contemporary urban planning practices, administration, and related public intervention in urban affairs. Students will be introduced to governmental, nonprofit, and private settings of professional planning environment. The intention is to expose students to the planning process and of the urban application of the social sciences, while introducing them to skills that can be incorporated into their "planner toolkit" which can be further expanded upon through future coursework and work experience. Students will be expected to apply skills and concepts learned in class to a simulated or real-world planning project.
