An examination of the problems faced by minority groups in American society, especially when skin color and language pose social, cultural, and economic barriers; and examination of conflicts between dominant public attitudes and minorities, and among minority groups such as Black Americans, Puerto Ricans, Native Americans, Chicanos, and other sizable ethnic groups.
