Course Information: Copy Editing  (21376)

This hands-on course builds on student skills in the mechanics of grammar, punctuation, spelling and syntax, story organization and use of Associated Press style. The course emphasizes fact-checking for accuracy and fairness in stories and multimedia. Students are introduced to the editor's thinking and decision-making processes in publication content and in assigning stories to media professionals. Upon completion, students will be better able to edit their own and others' copy and will better understand the process in a media organization.
