This course is an examination of American pop culture, with an emphasis on developments since World War II. Studies current trends in pop culture and cultural theory in relation to cultural studies and its history, to the ideas of audience/reception study, subcultures, and fans, and to the cultural designations of “high,” “low,” “mass,” “commercial,” and “folk.”
